SPIRITUAL LEADER & FAMILY MAN

Rabbi Yisroel Bernath is the spiritual director at Chabad of NDG and the Jewish Chaplain at Concordia University. He received his BA and Rabbinical Ordination from the Central Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim in Brooklyn, NY, and his MA in Hebrew Letters from the Yeshiva Gedolah Rabbinical College of Greater Miami. He also has a diploma from Hadassah-Wizo for training in Structural Cognitive Modifiability. He has extensive experience working in Adult Education and Special Education as well as coaching hundreds of young adults and couples.

In 2010, he was Canada's only finalist for the Jewish Community Hero Award. Known as “The Love Rabbi,” he exudes warmth and has an air of non-judgmental approachability. It’s no wonder he’s one of Canada's most popular under-40 rabbis! Rabbi Bernath lives in Montreal's trendy Monkland Village with his beloved wife Sara and adorable children Chaya, Zalmy, Leiba, Hena, and Yair.

Having made over 100 matches to date, Rabbi Bernath is lovingly called “The Love Rabbi” - and for good reason! In 2017, he starred in the hit CBC Documentary "Kosher Love," which was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award and produced and directed by Academy Award winners Frederic Bohbot and Evan Beloff.

FILM & TELEVISION STAR

Beyond being at the centre of CBC's hit documentary "Kosher Love", Rabbi Bernath is by all definitions an innovative and versatile media mogul. As a professional voice-over artist and storyteller, he has lent his voice to hundreds of productions and performed all over the world. As a screenwriter, Rabbi Bernath co-wrote the award-winning full feature animation "Young Abraham," and as an actor, he performed in The Will (2010) and Mixed Blessings (2012). His other credits include work with Shazak Inc, Sandy Productions, CMJ Productions, Big Bang Animation, and Realtime Jewish Media. In 2016, Rabbi Bernath starred in Viceland's popular show Dead Set on Life where he lovingly showed Chef Matty Matheson around as they navigated the exciting world of Kosher Montreal. Rabbi Bernath is also a frequent guest on CTV’s Your Morning, Breakfast TV Montreal, and Global News Montreal.
